Ammonoids are a group of extinct marine mollusc animals in the subclass Ammonoidea of the class cephalopoda that died out about 66 million years ago. These molluscs, commonly referred to as ammonites are more closely related to living coleoids which are octopuses, squid and cuttlefish than they are to shelled nautiloids such as the living Nautilus species.

Ammonites are excellent index fossils, linking the rock layer in which a particular species or genus is found to specific geologic time periods is often possible. Their fossil shells usually take the form of planispirals, although some helically spiraled and non spiraled forms (known as heteromorphs have been found.

The often tightly wound shells of ammonites may be a familiar sight, but how much do you know about the animals that once lived inside?

These pieces are cut and polished, measuring between 3cm-5cm in length.

Every piece will come with crystal meaning card and wrapped in tissue paper ready to receive.

Choose from just Ammonite or Ammonite/Hematite.
