Ammonites were marine molluscs that lived in the world's oceans millions of years ago before becoming extinct around 66 million years ago. Despite their distinctive coiled shells resembling the modern Nautilus, ammonites were actually more closely related to today's squid, octopuses and cuttlefish.

Their beautifully patterned spiral shells have been preserved as fossils within rock, giving us a glimpse into life in ancient seas. Ammonites are also important index fossils, helping geologists identify and date different layers of rock.

Each of our Ammonites has been cut and polished to reveal the wonderful natural detail and spiral structure within the fossil, making them perfect for fossil collectors, crystal lovers, children interested in dinosaurs and prehistoric life, or as a fascinating little gift.

Choose from three approximate sizes:
